Ret MSGT Edward Price Kephart, age 90, of Huntsville, Alabama passed away on Friday, July 26, 2024. He was a resident of Huntsville, AL since 1977. Ed was born September 14, 1933, in Osceola Mills, PA. He was preceded in death by his father Ralph Martin Kephart, mother Rachel Mary Kephart, wife Eva Joyce Kephart, son Edward Price Kephart Jr., brother Jesse Martin Kephart (Died serving in Navy WWII), sister Betty Wick.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Linda Kephart and her son Tim (Karen) Thompson, sons Robert (Ramona) Kephart, Ken (Judy) Kephart, daughters, Susan Andrews Freitag (David) & Mary Durham (Craig), grandchildren Breanna (Andrew) Grissett, Justin (Haley) Kephart, Lance Kephart, Sam and Ben Andrews, Ashlye (Lewis) Barcal, Dylan Barcal, Daniel (Kelly) Barcal, Jarrett Durham, great grandchildren Reece Thor and Aubrey Rayne (Ashlye & Lewis), Sister Marian Schwiderske. He will be deeply missed by his family.
MSGT Kephart served his country with the United States Air Force. He began his service in 1951 after graduating High School. During his 21 years of dedication, he attended Basic Training at Sampson AFB NY Flight# 264, his duty stations included 1953 - Keesler AFB Biloxi MS, 1953 - Far East Air Forces Korea 51st Fighter Interceptor Wing – Sewon Korea K13, 1954 - Limestone AFB, Limestone, Maine 42nd Bomb Wing, 1957 - Anderson AFB Guam, 1958 - Bunker Hill AFB Kokomo, IN, 1963 - TUSLOG DET 3-2 Samsun, Turkey, 1964 – San Antonio TX, USAF Cryptologic Detachment, 1966 - Clark AFB Philippines, 6931st Security Wing, 1970 - USAFSS Iraklion Air Station Crete, Greece, 1972 - 6931st Security Wing. He retired from United States Air Force in 1972 as a Master Sargent. He then began his career in Civil Service at Ft. Rucker and Redstone Arsenal from 1972 – 1995 before his retirement.
Ed was an active participant in various HUSBC Bowling Leagues through the years, the Links at Redstone Golf Course and was a previous member of Lakewood Civitan Club. Ed enjoyed bowling, playing golf, watching/listening to Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers, his two dogs Sasha and Pogo, watching grandchildren grow up, crossword puzzles.
A visitation for Ed will be held Tuesday, July 30, 2024 from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at Valhalla Funeral Home & Memory Gardens, 698 Winchester Rd NE, Huntsville, Alabama 35811. Following the visitation will be a Graveside Service with Military Honors at 2:00pm at Valhalla Memory Gardens in The Good Shepherd Garden, Officiated by Robert Kephart.
