Edward Francis Finn Jr., born March 17, 1958 in Montclair, New Jersey and died on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Huntsville Hospital. Ed, as he is known by friends and family, was preceded in death by his father, Edward Francis Finn, Sr., his mother, Elizabeth Winters Finn and brother, Michael Joseph Finn. Ed is survived by his siblings, David (Perry Phillips) Finn, Jimmy Finn, Robert (Sherri) Finn, Kathy (Doug) Woody and Susie (Mark) Hale. He is deeply cherished by numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Ed and his family began life in New Jersey and then moved to California in 1965. In 1969 the family moved to Huntsville Alabama which became Ed’s home.
Ed was a 1976 graduate of J. O. Johnson High School where he Lettered in swimming and football. Ed was also a light heavyweight boxing champion Golden Glove fighter. While Ed was an avid Alabama fan, he was recruited by Auburn University to play football and swim but chose to enter the U.S. Army. Ed is a military veteran with an honorable discharge. Ed attended Calhoun Community College where he studied Computer Science.
“Uncle Eddie” never met a stranger and was known for his kind heart and patience; someone who did not know the word hate. He will be missed by many and remembered by all. His service will be Friday, May 12 at Valhalla Cemetery in Huntsville, Alabama on Winchester Road. Visitation will begin at 10 AM with the service to follow at 11. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to the Lou Gehrig, ALS Foundation.
