Dorothy Ann Anderson

Mrs. Dorothy Ann Anderson passed away peacefully at her home on January 13, 2020 in Gurley, Alabama at the age of 72. Dorothy is survived by her husband Calvin Anderson; children, David ( Angie ) and Shane ( Amy ) Anderson. Grandchildren, Tyler Anderson ( Ashley ), Lacy Wright ( Mitchell) , Wes Anderson and Hannah Anderson. Great grandchildren Noah and Aurora Anderson; brother, Mike Carter (Judy) ; nephew Chris Carter ( Heidi ), niece Candace Cooper ( Brad ). Brother-in-law, Hugh Anderson. Uncle Danny Hagood. Cousins Ken Hagood and Jill Hagood, as well as and numerous friends and neighbors She was preceded in death by her mother Elanor Faye Carter ( Hagood ) and father Thomas Carter and Grandmother Anna Hagood Thornton. Dorothy Anderson was born on December 2, 1947, in Decatur, Alabama to Elenor Carter and Thomas Carter. She graduated from Buckhorn High School in 1966. She married Calvin Anderson in 1967. Dorothy was very active in the Hurricane Creek community being an officer of both the Community Center and Homemakers Club. Her favorite spot to vacation was the smoky mountains in East Tennessee.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 16, 2020 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Valhalla Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life Service will be Friday, January 17, 2020 at 12 noon at Valhalla Funeral Home. Ben May will officiate the ceremony. Mrs. Anderson will be Laid to Rest at Valhalla Memory Gardens
