Doris Juanita Tack

DORIS THOMAS TACK September 28, 1934 – May 27, 2015 Doris Thomas Tack, 80, passed away peacefully in her home Wednesday, May 27, 2015. Ms. Tack was born in McLean, Virginia as an only daughter to Robert and Nancy Thomas. She was married to Melvin Tack for 53 years until his death in 2007. Doris was a beloved mother to 2 children, Toni Pennington and, Robert Tack, both of Huntsville. Ms. Tack was affectionately known as “Nana” to 2 grandsons, Brandon Rinehart and J. Ruffin Colson. She was a former civil service employee, before and after raising her 2 children, she retired in 1993. Doris was a devout Christian who spent many of her years teaching Sunday school and was actively involved in the Lay Eucharist and Altar Guild Ministries with the Church of the Nativity Episcopal Church. She was a Stephen Minister Leader and a daughter in the Daughters of the King. All that knew Doris were very aware of her love for her 4 legged “children” and she leaves behind her beloved Sophia. A memorial service will be held at St. Stephens Episcopal Church, 8020 Whitesburg Drive S., Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at 11:00 AM with a reception to follow.
