.Donnie Wayne McIlvoy passed away peacefully on July 28, 2017 surrounded by his loving wife and daughters in Huntsville, Alabama after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. Donnie was born in Missouri on February 22, 1950 and left us at 67 years old. He married Linda Sue Sandifer in Hammond, Louisiana in 1969 and relocated to Florida, where he started his family.
Donnie was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert McKinley McIlvoy and Myrtle Kirker McIlvoy; brother, Ricky McKinley McIlvoy; grandson, Charles Xavier Petersen. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 48 years, Linda Sue Sandifer McIlvoy; daughters, Daphne Ann Petersen, Kristina Suzzon McIlvoy. Donnie was a loving grandfather, who is survived by his grandson, Andrew Jonathan Schaffer; granddaughters, Erin Delainey Schaffer, Leighton Ruby Petersen, Airriyonna Elizabeth McIlvoy, Clenesha McIlvoy and Kamariona McIlvoy. He was also survived by daughter-in law, Carla Jean Esposito; son-in law, Dennis Petersen along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and his beloved dog Thor.
Donnie was an Operating Engineer for over 40 years, and a strong supporter of union labor. He retired from the St Lucie Nuclear Powerplant where he worked as the union trade representative until his retirement. His work ethic and strong moral values made him an advocate and a friend to many of the men and women he had the honor to work with.
