Donald Leonard Smith

Don is survived by his wife, Bonnie Smith; his sister, Linda Cox of Winston Salem, NC; brother, Carl Smith (Laurie Smith) of Anchorage, AK; nieces, Jana Cox, Jennifer Yate; nephews, Chris Smith, Eric Smith; and several great nieces and nephews.

Don was born on May 17, 1956 in Maine. He attended Anchorage Christian School, and later graduated from Tennessee Temple with a degree in Education. Don taught for several years at Christian schools in Michigan and later did custodial work at First Baptist Church of Troy. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Troy, MI, where he was a very active and faithful member. Don moved to Huntsville, AL, where he was employed as a custodian for Huntsville City Schools and was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church. He loved to sing in the church choir. He also greatly enjoyed woodworking, making wind chimes and cooking. He especially loved decorating for Christmas and putting up his special light display.

A Memorial Service is planned for Saturday, June 5, at Calvary Baptist Church, 126 Douglass Rd. NW, Huntsville, AL. Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. with the service to follow at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Calvary Baptist Church to help with their tech upgrade. This project was very dear to Don.
