Alvin Curtis Nelson, 85, passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, February 1, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Nelson was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Anna Nelson.
Mr. Nelson is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Barbara Nelson; his daughter, Jeana Swaim; his step-son, Jarrod Fleckenstein; 2 grandchildren, Ryan and Wesley Swaim; and a host of other friends and relatives.
Curt was a heavy equipment operator with Ashburn Gray and the State of Alabama Highway Department. He was one of those responsible for the construction of I-65 from Huntsville to Birmingham. He loved to fish and garden and always had a good garden going. Curt also liked to decorate for Christmas and had the house and yard all in lights for the Christmas season. Curt Nelson was dearly loved and will be missed by many!
You may visit with the family at Valhalla Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, February 3, 2015. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 in Valhalla’s chapel at 12:00 Noon, conducted by Frances Dyer-Zimmerman and Bro. Larry Billiter.
