Charles Calvin Hunter

Charles Calvin Hunter, age 82, of Huntsville, Alabama passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 28, 2023. Charles was born and raised in Owens Cross Roads but spent the rest of his life as a resident of Huntsville, AL.

He served in the U.S. Army in the 1960’s. He worked for and retired from the state of Alabama and was a huge fan of Alabama football.

He was preceded in death by his parents Willie and Calvin Hunter, his sister Virginia Olsterdorf (Al), his brother John Hunter, and sister-in-law Mary Hunter. He was also preceded in death by his nephew Steve Hunter.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Janice Fay Hunter, son Jeffrey Hunter (Sara) and grandchildren: Jacob Hunter (Hanna), Savanna Thompson (Andrew), Sadie Langford (Isaiah) and Caden Hunter. Also by two great-granddaughters: Elowyn Thompson and Arabella Hunter. Surviving brothers are Donald Hunter and James Hunter (Ellen) and sister-in-law Betty Hunter along with many nephews and nieces.

Visitation for Charles will be held Wednesday, November 1, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Valhalla Funeral Home, 698 Winchester Rd Ne, Huntsville, Alabama 35811. Following the visitation will be a graveside service with military honors at 12:00 PM at Faith Memorial Park, 8100 Hwy 20 West, Huntsville, AL 35806.
