Camille Wofford Solley passed away January 14,2023 at Huntsville Hospital. She was born to Benjamin Rice Wofford and Beverly McGee Wofford March 19,1953 in Anderson, South Carolina. She attended the University of Tennessee Knoxville where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 1975 and Master of Science in Educational Psychology in 1976. As a student, she was a Residential Advisor for several dormitories. She fell in love with Chi Omega Fraternity, initiated into Pi chapter, and spent her life serving its purposes and supporting sisters at universities across the nation. Camille’s dedication to Chi Omega was inspired and she touched the lives of so many.
After graduation, she was a dormitory supervisor at the University of North Alabama in Florence and Georgia Southwestern in Americus. She met her husband, Steve, while at UNA and they married in 1980. They moved to Huntsville where Camille became a dormitory supervisor at the University of Alabama-Huntsville. She also served as chapter advisor to the Kappa Kappa chapter of Chi Omega at UAH. Camille’s professional career complemented her love of people as she dedicated her life to serving the community. She was a field representative for the American Cancer Society. She lovingly worked as a case worker for Big Brothers/Big Sisters, worked tirelessly seeking grants, and eventually became Executive Director. She worked at the National Children’s Advocacy Center as the SCAN(Stop Child Abuse and Neglect) Program Manager. She served as Executive Director for Habitat for Humanity of Madison County. Camille worked as a District Aide for U.S. Congressman Bud Cramer. She worked for the Better Business Bureau of North Alabama in the Business Development Office. She was a realtor and worked as a Marketing Coordinator for WAFF 48. Camille was a member of Leadership Huntsville with the Madison County Chamber of Commerce. She twice served as Co-Chair of Pan oply and chaired various committees for the Arts Council of Huntsville. She served on the Olympic Torch Relay Public Relations Committee. She served as President of the Mental Health Association and Treasurer of Directors of Volunteer Services. Camille loved history and was dedicated to studying The Bible, participating in many classes and small groups across several churches. Camille was a Deacon and Elder at Faith Presbyterian Church in Huntsville where she also served on the church board.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Left to cherish her memory are her husband Steve Solley; sister Martha Wofford Long and her children Beverly(Eliot), John (Ashley), and Jackson; Brother Benjamin Wofford II(Linda) and his children Benjamin III(JJ) and Anna; Brother David(Donna) and his children Kristyn Ball(Chandler) and their 2 sons, Wofford and Weston, Victoria and Kennedy; and Solley brothers-in-law Gary(Leslie) and his son Matt(Anre); and Tim(Jamie) and his sons Jackson and Sam.

Visitation is on Thursday, January 19 at 11:00 a.m. with funeral services following at 1:00 p.m. CST at Faith Presbyterian Church, 5003 Whitesburg Dr SE, Huntsville, AL 35802, and burial at Valhalla Memory Garden, 698 Winchester Rd, Huntsville, AL 35811. For those who cannot come the funeral it will be broadcast live on Facebook live at Faith Presbyterian Church-Huntsville and post later to the church website @ presby.org.
As her husband, I want everyone to know Camille loved you all and will be waiting in heaven to talk again.
