Bettye Jean King, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away on April 1 (at 11:43 PM) at her home. Funeral services will be held at 2:15 PM, Friday, April 6 at Valhalla Funeral Home. Interment to follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens with rites at the graveside. Rev. Ray Vining will officiate. Visitation will be from 1:30 PM until the hour of service on Friday.
Bettye was born in El Paso, Texas. She attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas before transferring to Texas Western University in El Paso for another year. She worked at KTSM while married to her first husband, Bob E. Lawrence.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Retired Army COL William T. King; one daughter, Michelle and her husband, Bryan Herrington of Orlando, Florida; one daughter, Pam Lawrence Robson of Florida; one granddaughter, Heather; four grandsons, Jason, Dustin, Travis and Dylan; and one sister-in-law, Diane King Smith of Savannah, Georgia.
She was the daughter of the late Antonio G. Gutierrez of El Paso, Texas and Edna Ruth Ribble Gutierrez of Dallas, Texas.
