BURWELL "BURL" CLAYTON SPREACKER, 84, fulfilled his favorite song, "I'll Fly Away," by leaving his Earthly home in Proctorville, Ohio, and entering Heaven's glory on March 29, 2013. He was born April 14, 1928, to the late Arlen and Georgie Fortner Spreacker in Lavalette, W.Va. Survivors include his wife of 10 years, Lynnette; two daughters, Becky Lyons and husband Herbert and Sally Lowe (Paul Morrison); a son, Rev. Dan Spreacker and his wife Sherrill, all of Huntington; one sister, Joyce Whitmore; and one brother-in-law, Sidney (Rosa) Poynter; grandchildren, Charlie (Terri) Lyons, Melanie Lyons (Wayne Lucas), Tim Ferguson, Andrea (Joe) Porter, and Craig Spreacker (Norma Harbolt); great-grandchildren, Austin Ferguson, Daniel and Caitlin Spreacker; stepchildren, Miriam (Duane) Maxey, Conner (Lola) Ray and Nathan Ray (Bonnie Davis); and nieces and nephews, John (Sandy) Perdue, Hope Russell, Gloria Jean Tomblin, Richard Lee Spreacker, Henrietta Spreacker, Charlene McCloud, Tina (Shane) Coffman and David (Jackie) Chapman. Burl worked for S.S. Logan for many years and retired from Frito-Lay after 19 years of service. He deeply loved the Lord, serving him with his whole heart. His love for his wife, children and grandchildren was pure and devoted. His mission in life was to call or visit those whom were sick or afflicted. He maintained a garden so the harvest could be shared. He loved to laugh and talk, never to meet a stranger and was a witness for Jesus in speech and actions. Honorary pallbearers are Jack Smith, Elvin Green, Ron Cole, Buddy Logan, George Surgeon and Don Spreacker. Pallbearers will be Tim Ferguson, Charlie Lyons, Craig Spreacker, Austin Ferguson, Wayne Lucas and Conner Ray. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Darrell Buttram and Owen Jenkins officiating at the Reger Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington. Visitation will be held 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Reger Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.regerfh.com.
