Robert "Bob" L. Collins, 88 of Huntington, passed away on Thursday September 26, 2024, at his residence. Bob was a 1954 graduate of Huntington High School. He went on to attend Purdue University and was a member of Central Christian Church. Bob owned and operated Collins House of Music, and later went on to work at UTEC for 17 years prior to retiring. Bob was a great musician who loved to play the organ and piano. In his younger years he enjoyed playing tennis, racing autocross cars, and working on his antique "T" Bucket. Bob loved spending time with his family fishing at their cabin in Minnesota. He enjoyed sports and was proud to have witnessed his Chicago Cubs win the World Series. Bob had a humorous personality and was famous for the great nicknames he gave his co-workers and jokingly offering to give out "Fat Lip Sandwich's".
Bob was born on April 3, 1936, in Huntington, a son of the late Harvey and Isabel (Oswalt) Collins.
Bob was united in marriage to Jane Flora in Huntington, on February 12 ,1958. His wife preceded him in death on December 18, 2022.
Survivors include two sons: Jim Collins of Huntington, and Joe Collins of Huntington; three daughters: Julie (John) Hamilton of Huntington, Jenny (David) White of Andrews, and Janelle Smith of Huntington; four grandchildren: Stone (Jordin) Smith of Huntington, Eli (Rebecca) Smith of Keystone, Heather Hamilton of Denver, Colorado, and Tiffany Hamilton of Huntington; and three great grandchildren: Theo Smith of Huntington, Jude Dillon of Huntington, and Alex Dillon of Huntington;
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington IN 46750.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
