Mary E. Whaley, 91 of Huntington passed away at 3:45 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2014 at her residence. Mary was a 1940 graduate of Kirklin High school and was a homemaker. As a child Mary was raised by her Grandparents and an Aunt as her parents died when she was young. She lived in many states including Alaska, where her husbands Navy career took them.
Mary was born on July 24, 1922 in Hillisburg, IN a daughter of William and Levon (Malicoat) McAdams.
She was united in marriage to Richard Whaley on December 22, 1940 in Kirklin, IN. Her husband of 73 years survives.
Additional survivors include a son: David Whaley of Ft. Wayne and two daughters: Starlynn Schell of Huntington and Cindy (Scot) Shaffer of Berne. 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and a sister: Thelma Goodnight of Huntington.
She was preceded in death by a stillborn sister.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2014 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Gardens of Memory Mausoleum Chapel, 11201 S. Marion Rd. – 35, Marion, IN.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Gardens of Memory Mausoleum Chapel with Scot Shaffer officiating.
Entombment will take place at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Marion.
