Joy K. Baker, 71 of Huntington passed away Sunday morning, June 8, 2014 in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Joy was a 1960 graduate of Huntington Twp. High school. She was a homemaker; previously she had worked at Indiana Bell and Memcor. She was a member of the Women’s Extension club and was a Polk Township Trustee. She was a 50 year plus member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the choir and taught Sunday school. She was a Girl Scout for several years and received the Curved Bar award.
Joy was born on June 29, 1942 in Huntington, a daughter of Roger A. and Mildred N. (Ward) Oswalt.
She was united in marriage to John L. Baker on April 6, 1968 in Huntington. Her husband survives.
Additional survivors include – a daughter: Jennifer (Steve) Miller of Andrews; a son: John Michael “Mike” (and fiancé: Jenn McCann) of Andrews; a granddaughter: Brittany Miller and a brother: William “Bill” (Carmen) Oswalt of Huntington.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson: Zachary Miller and a sister: Judith Oswalt.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2014 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington, Indiana.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 13, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 530 Guilford St., Huntington, Indiana. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the service at the church.
Interment will take place at the Star of Hope Cemetery in rural Huntington County.
Memorial donations may be made out to the American Heart Association or to the Trinity United Methodist Church Choir, sent in care to Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington, IN 46750.
