Joseph L. Hunnicutt

Joseph “Joe” L. Hunnicutt 70 of Huntington passed away on Monday July 10, 2023 at his home. Joe was a 1971 graduate of Huntington Catholic High School. After graduation, he worked on the Erie Lackawanna Railroad. Throughout his life, Joe was an entrepreneur who owned and operated several businesses around Huntington County. Joe joined the Huntington County Fire Department in 1987, and served the community for 28 years. He was a parishioner of SS Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Some of Joe’s greatest joys were sharing time with his grandchildren and watching them in sports. He enjoyed playing cards, and was always the life of the party. But most importantly Joe LOVED to play golf. Joe was born on June 28, 1953 in Huntington the son of the late Richard and Arnetta (Okuly) Hunnicutt. He was united in marriage to Nancy Garber on November 20, 1982 in Huntington. His wife survives. Along with his wife, survivors include a daughter: Jennifer (Matt) Taylor of Ossian; a son: Adam (Katie) Hunnicutt of Noblesville; two brothers: Jim (Joyce) Hunnicutt of Louisville and Jerry (Patty) Hunnicutt of Azle, Texas; two sisters: Diana (Bob) Bowers of Leesburg, and Darlene (Terry) Tinsley of Louisville; three Grandchildren: Tyson Taylor, Brayden Taylor, and Callie Hunnicutt. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Dale Hunnicutt Visitation will take place on Thursday July 13, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington, Indiana. A rosary service will follow the visitation at 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place on Friday July 14, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. with one hour of calling prior to the service at SS. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church, 860 Cherry Street, Huntington IN 46750 Interment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery Preferred Memorials can be made out to Right to Life, Knights of Columbus Children’s Charity, or SS Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church in care of Myers Funeral Home 2901 Guilford St., Huntington, IN 46750.
