John "Jay" Hiatt

John "Jay" Hiatt, 56 of Huntington, passed away on Sunday evening, November 17, 2024 at his residence. Jay was a 1986 graduate of Gladys Porter High School in Texas. He received his certification in Heating and Air-Conditioning, working in Fort Wayne for many years. Later on he worked at Juergens Hardware in Huntington. He loved music and enjoyed writing songs as well. Jay was also an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, enjoyed fishing and especially loved his dogs Gus and Emmy. He was a member of the American Legion Post 85 in Huntington. Jay was born on February 26, 1968 in Huntington, a son of the late Dan J. and Kathy (Russo) Hiatt. He was united in marriage to Lori Johnson on July 1, 2011 in Huntington. Lori survives. Additional survivors include: two brothers: Dan Hiatt, Joe Fahrnow; and five sisters: Julie Chirico, Cindy Shields, Christine Stauffer, Carmen Esther Hiatt and Tina Pursley. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 following visitation at 3:00 pm at the funeral home. A celebration of life for Jay will continue on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at 4:30 pm at the American Legion Post 85, 1410 S. Jefferson Street, Huntington, Indiana.
