Henry “Perk” Miller, 98 of Andrews passed away on January 5, 2022 at Parkview Huntington Hospital. Henry served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, mowing his lawn and taking evening drives, even up to the age of 98. Henry worked at Kitchen Maid and Keefer Greenhouse both in Andrews and started working as a custodian at the Andrews School from 1966 – 1988. He served on the Andrews Volunteer Fire Department and was elected as fire chief at one point. He enjoyed watching horse pulls and horse racing throughout the years. He spent many summers at Chapman Lake.
Henry was born on July 26, 1923 in Huntington, the son of the late Henry and Martha (Snow) Miller.
He was united in marriage to Ruth Rittenhouse on November 23, 1946 in Bippus, Indiana. Ruth preceded him in death in 2016.
Survivors include two sons: Keith (Kendra) Miller of North Manchester, Kevin Miller of Andrews; two daughters: Debbie (Mark) Tester of Fort Wayne, Doneta Lindsey of South Dakota; six grandchildren: Brooke (Greg) Blackman of Fort Wayne, Corey Tester of Bradenton, FL, Karmen (Nick) Chaney of Plymouth, Kedric (Anna) Miller of Fort Wayne, Justin (Amber) Miller of Markle, Lindsay (Tyler King) Miller of Fort Wayne and twelve great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son: Richie Lee Miller; five sisters: Opal Falk, Rosemary Quakenbush, Eileen Rittenhouse, Evelyn Futrell, Wilma Bitzel and a brother: Russell “Bud” Miller.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 10, 2022 from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana.
Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 10, 2022 at 2:00 pm following visitation at the funeral home with Rev. Dan Kochensparger officiating.
Interment will be at the Star of Hope Cemetery.
