Evelyn was the sweetest, kindest, loving Christian. With her husband,  Mark And Evelyn lived a devout life dedicated to our Lord and Savior.  Countless young people’s lives were blessed by the Hammels. I count myself as one of the lucky people blessed being their friend and mentored by their love. They’re in eternal rest with joy as angels with our Creator in Heavenly, peaceful bliss!!❤️

I met Evelyn through my aunt (Pat Maraldo) at Heritage Point. When I met her we realized we knew people in common ( one Dianna Deller). What a joy Evelyn was! The last time I saw her she had transferred to another area but you never would have known anything different from the expression on her face. She had a smile that truly did light up the room. I had been told by my aunt that Evelyn had a lot of pain but no one would have suspected. She always made me feel happier just to have seen her.  My sympathy to all of your family.  I am so blessed to have met Evelyn. She is someone I will always remember with a smile.  Cheri Mattox, Angola, Indiana

My mother was everything others have shared. I talked to Mom every day until the last ten days when she was not up to it.  Mom  was more than ready to change addresses to heaven.  My mother lived praying that each of us in our family would trust  in Jesus so we can all meet again in heaven.  Thank you Mom for giving birth to me and your unending love.

To the Hammel Family,
Mark and Evelyn are reunited in heaven now. Their faith was so inspiring! I spent many hours with them both and the last time I spoke with Evelyn she (as always) said she would say a prayer for me and my family.  She was always such a positive lady and loved her family deeply. 
I will carry many wonderful memories of my times with both of them.  I loved them dearly.

Evelyn and Mark Hammel were like foster parents for me. Mark was my much loved basketball coach, teacher and mentor. I’m unable to find the proper words to express what he did for me; he and Evelyn helped with their love for me, their faith in Christ, and their guiding nurture during

My condolences to your family on the loss of Evelyn.  My grandparents Russ and Mildred Baker were good friends with Evelyn & Mark.  I know they always enjoyed their company.  May God comfort you in this time of loss and hold dear all those sweet memories of her. 

Evelyn's beautiful smile will be truly missed at Heritage in Fort Wayne. I so enjoyed talking and playing games with her. She was always looking on the bright side of everything and everyone. She was a bright star, always smiling. She will be missed, but heaven has a new angle smiling down on all of us.

It’s difficult to put into words the many memories over the years.  I’ve known Evelyn my entire life. Nancy and I were only one month apart and growing up, I spent many times at their house.  Whether it was swimming or ice skating on the pond (with Evelyn’s skates) I always felt welcomed and loved. Evelyn was a fabulous cook, always was laughing and had a smile for everyone.  Her love for her family was great and her love for God was even greater. The last time I talked with her, I knew she was more than ready to meet her Lord and to see her husband again. She will be missed by me and everyone that came into contact with her. 

“I can’t even imagine” she told me as I sat next to her over a month ago “what it will feel like to stand up straight again as I step into heaven.  You know, I told Mark we would go camping as soon as I join him up there.”  She smiled warmly as she often did and looked at me.  “You know that I love you and I love how you love my family.  Hug them often for me and when I’m gone remind them how special they are.”  
(You can count on it Evelyn!  I love you too.)
