Brian D. Kline, 51 of Huntington County passed away at 1:57 p.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2011. Brian was raised on a grain farm in eastern Huntington County; he was a 1978 graduate of Huntington North High School and later graduated from Ball State University in 1981 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. After starting employment at a local firm in 1981, he passed the CPA exam and soon became tax manager of the firm. He became a partner in 1991. Brian purchased the Huntington office which is now Kline’s CPA Group, P.C in 1998. He developed a reputation as a consultant in the agriculture community and has spoken at various venues on tax and planning subjects. Brian’s work in structuring farm operations to maximize FSA program payment potential is familiar to most Farm Service Agency Executive Directors. He also became well known in his ability to structure farm and other business operations for beneficial income and social security tax planning as well as estate and succession planning of family businesses. Brian was a member of Union Church and had always been very active in his church and had served in various positions of leadership. He had also been involved in the community as a leader with the Red Cross, Kiwanis, United Way, Community Foundation, WBCL Board of Directors and was a board member of the Fort Wayne Area Youth for Christ. Brian also supported several organizations such as Compassion International, Promise Keepers, American Family Association, Campus Crusade for Christ, and Focus on the Family.
He was born on April 20, 1960 in Huntington, a son of Jerry F. and Nancy L. (Rogers) Kline.
He was united in marriage to Sandra Cozad on August 25, 1979 at Union Church in Huntington County.
Survivors include his wife Sandy Kline of Huntington; a son: Bradley (Erika) Kline of Noblesville; a daughter: Rhonda Kline of Huntington; his mother: Nancy Kline of Huntington; Father-in-law and Mother-in-law: Mark and Margaret Cozad of Huntington; three brothers: Mike (Lori) Kline; Neil (Melody) Kline and Andy (Candee) Kline all of Huntington.
He was preceded in death by his father: Jerry F. Kline and a brother: Martin Kline.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 24, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Union Church, 3688 E. 400 N. in Huntington.
Services will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Union Church with visitation prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Matt Gapinski officiating.
Interment will be at the Union Cemetery in Huntington County.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial donations in honor of Brian be made to Union Church or to Fort Wayne Area Youth for Christ in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
