He had many names...Robert, Rob, Bob, Robbie, Schwartzy, Dad, Grandpop. But whatever you called him, he gave you that beautiful smile and shining eyes. He was always happy and always happy to see you.
Robert was born on May 2, 1948 in Philadelphia, Pa, to parents Harry and Blanche Schwartz. He graduated from Olney High School in 1965. He continued his education at The Community College of Philadelphia. Robert went on to study Computer Systems Technology at Lincoln Technical Institute. Following this course completion he pursued a career as a technical engineer working for Diebold, Inc., for which he was employed for almost 30 years. In addition, Mr. Schwartz served in the United States Air Force as a fuel specialist during the Vietnam War.
Robert loved to travel. He loved music and old movies and he was a passionate Philadelphia sports fan. Till the end, Robert cheered for the Phillies and Eagles and knew this was the year the Flyers were going to win that damn Stanley Cup. His last hobby was flirting with his nurses.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Blanche Schwartz.
Robert always put family first and was a dedicated father, grandfather and husband. Robert is survived by his amazing wife of 28 years Ellen Schwartz. Loving father of Todd and father-in-law of Jessica. He is survived by his sister Elaine Shapiro. Proud grandfather of Harrison, Delaney, and Megan. Further survived by loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and an abundance of friends. Everyone that knew Robert always said the same thing: Robert was nothing but kind, loving, caring, wonderful, awesome, and of course funny. We will all miss him more than words can say.
Robert will be honored at a grave-side service scheduled for Thursday, September 23rd at 2PM at Shalom Memorial Park located at 25 Byberry Rd., Huntingdon Valley, Pa.
