Janet M. Kuhner went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. Janet was born on January 15, 1936 in Philadelphia Pa, the daughter of the late Samuel J. and Margaret M. (McKeown) Porter and was a Langhorne resident for the past sixty years.
She was the beloved wife of the late Gerald Kuhner for fifty-eight years, the devoted mother of James Kuhner of Morrisville and his wife Jayne, who she loved like a daughter, and the loving grandmother of Jamie Kuhner, Yardley. She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry and two infant grandsons, Jared and Joshua.
Janet was a woman of strong faith and was currently attending Grace Point Church of Newtown. Previously, she was a member of Third Reformed Presbyterian Church of Philadelphia, and later a member of Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Levittown where she served as a choir member, pianist and organist, and on the mission committee.
Janet had a love of music her entire life. She was an accomplished musician and loved her many years singing and playing at her church. She enjoyed traveling, bird watching, scrapbooking, gardening and sewing. She also loved researching her ancestry and spent hours upon hours tracing her family roots back to Ireland.
Janet was an RN, graduating from Temple Nursing School in 1956 and went on to work as a nurse at Temple Hospital and through her dedication to her work became a head nurse in her mid-twenties. She finished out her career at Fox Chase Cancer Hospital in 1998.
Janet was a true caregiver. She cared for her father as he battled Alzheimer’s disease and most recently cared for her husband, Jerry, as he battled Parkinson’s disease.
