Eugene spent most of his life in Philadelphia. In 2001, he and his wife, Joan moved to Cape May Courthouse and spent 13 years living at the shore. They moved to the Heather Gate Community in Langhorne in 2014.
Eugene retired from SEPTA as a Supervisor in 1997. Those who loved him best, recall that he enjoyed supervising nearly all activities throughout his life.
In his younger years, he loved bowling. Eugene played on a bowling league with team members from his former employer, Adley Express Trucking Company. He loved going to the Casino and the Race Track and was an avid Phillies fan. In his later years, he found enjoyment watching Cozi TV and all of the “Old Time” TV Shows.
Eugene is survived by his wife, Joan Szymendera, his daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and Steve Descano, his son and daughter-in-law, Ted and Marie Szymendera, his daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Walt Marszalek, his son, Rob Szymendera, his seven grandchildren, Stephen Descano, Lauren-Nicole Jinier, TJ Szymendera, Lisa Szymendera, Sara Szymendera, Alyssa Marszalek and Matthew Marszalek, his four great-grandchildren, Katie Beth, Charlotte, Kayla and Riley and his two sisters, Florence Grabowski and Rita Gannon.
Friends and family are invited to a viewing on Thursday, September 7, 2017 from 9:30am-11:30am at Lamb Funeral Home, 101 Byberry Road, Huntingdon Valley. Services will be held at 11:30am, followed by an interment at Forest Hills Cemetery, Huntingdon Valley.
