Aleyamma Varughese

Aleyamma Varughese was born on July 4, 1931 to M.M Varughese and Aleyamma Varughese of Mathurampoikayil family, Thuruthicad. She was the fourth of seven children. Her siblings are Late M.V Mathai, Late M.V Koshi, M.V Eapean (Thuruthicad), Late M.V Varughese, Rev. M.V Abraham and

Gracy Thomas.

Aleyamma did her schooling in Puthusherry school and continued her studies at Bible College in Karnataka. She was a member of the St. Thomas Evangelical Church of India, Mepral. In 1961 she got married to K. M Varughese (Babychayan) of Karuvadiyil family. In December of 1989, she migrated to the USA with her husband and youngest son Sajy, and settled in Philadelphia, PA. She was brought here

by her younger sister Gracy Thomas.

Aleyamma was an avid reader. She generously served her church community for many years and opened her heart and her home to friends and family. She enjoyed her life with children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed spending time at her home and day care. She was cheerful and optimistic.

On the morning of April 13, 2022, Aleyamma passed away peacefully in her home in Philadelphia.

She is survived by her children: Kamalamma (Husband-Joy), Joyamma (Husband-Late Mathai), Rajan (Wife-Susan), Prasad (Wife-Mini), Jolly (Husband-Varughese), and Sajy (Wife-Sunilla); grandchildren: Rini (Binu), Rincy (Santhosh), Jeena (Benny), Jain (Johnson), Joel, Josh, Anu (Jibin), Alvin, and Benji; great-grandchildren: Joanna and Jerome; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
