Thompson Wallace (Wally) Hebert, 82, of Spring, Texas joined his wife Betty Jane in eternal peace on April 16, 2017. Wally struggled since 2011 with illnesses yet managed to stay strong and live a fulfilling and joyous life, surrounded by his loved ones.
Wally was born on February 25, 1935, in Iota, Louisiana and later met the love of his life Betty Pousson of Iota, Louisiana and married her on June 16, 1956. Wally entered the army in 1957 where he graduated top of his communications class in the USA and served his country in the Korean War.
While in the army his first son was born and then his daughter. After serving his country, Wally and Betty moved to Texas where Wally joined Gulf Oil Corporation and his second son was born. Wally was a wonderfully loving and supportive husband, father, and PawPaw who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping in his younger days. Wally enjoyed playing a good game of solitaire and a game or two of Go Fish with his great-grandchildren. He also had a love of woodworking and has left his mark on many a person’s front porch with a glider or swing and sometimes both. Sports has always been one of his great loves and when his boys were young, he participated through them and eventually settled for watching baseball and football on television. He loved his sports so much that he would watch the Astros reruns from prior years and still get such enjoyment from the game.
Wally retired in 1985 and he and Betty built their dream home in Iota, Louisiana and lived happily for several wonderful years, enjoying coffee with brother-in-law and country living. Eventually they moved back to Texas due to Betty’s declining health and once again settled in Spring, Texas.
Wally became well known within his family for his Seafood Gumbo and potato salad, and his family is forever grateful for passing on the knowledge of homemade and home smoked sausage.
Wally was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane (Pousson) Hebert, father Lucien Hebert (Edna) and mother Helen (Gil) Prudhomme, brothers John C. Hebert and Austin Hebert, and grandson Jeremy Hebert.
Those left behind to forever cherish his memory are his children: John Hebert (Lori) of Dayton, Texas, Renee Hebert of Spring, Texas, and Joel Hebert (Alma) of Edinburg, Texas as well as his sister Barbara Bolton, brother-in-law Joel Pousson, and sister-in-law Mary Davis. Wally (PawPaw) is also survived by his grandchildren: Jessica Tosto (Jason), Tim Hebert (Vonda), Christine Brasure (Chris) and his most precious great-grandchildren: Sadie Jane Renee, Sullivan Thompson Ronald, Jeremy Jr, and Alana Grace as well as numerous extended family and friends.
Wally/Dad/PawPaw will always be remembered as a sweet, loving man who did not judge nor hold a grudge and was always there when you needed a friend or father. His children and grandchildren would like to express their gratitude to you for participating in the celebration of his life and hope each of you know the beauty and peace God can hold in your lives.
