SHIRLEY ANN HARDIN THOMAS was born to JAMES WESLEY HARDIN AND GEORGIA ANN HARDIN on MAY 5, 1935 in Marlin, Texas . She had two brothers James W. Hardin, Jr and Milton D Hardin. Shirley attended Harvard Elementary, Hogg Jr. High, Regan High School - all in the Houston Heights. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior as a child, and has now gone home to be with her husband Bill.
Shirley Ann Hardin married Maurice W “Bill”” Thomas on September 7, 1951. They have four children, as mother would say, “Billy, Randy -, Donna & Cheryl when she called us all to supper.….
While Bill served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict they lived in San Diego and San Francisco. Later they moved back to Houston eventually moving to Cypress Fairbanks area on Taub Road. Shirley owned her own Beauty Shop for several years while raising her teenage children. Bill and Shirley started Thomas Sheet Metal, their sheet metal and fabricating company in August 1974 operating the company for over 20 years.
After selling the business they purchased a ranch in Ben Hur Texas living there from 1993 to 2007. Shirley and Bill loved the ranch and the community there. She joined the Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron, attended First Baptist Mart Texas and she loved dressing up for her Red Hat Group. She expressed her creativity through doll making, woodworking, needlepoint and sewing. She also enjoyed collecting dolls and antique clocks but her favorite activity by far was shopping.
Shirley was preceded in death by; her husband Bill Thomas, her parents James W. Hardin and Georgia Hardin Giles, her brother Milton D. Hardin, her grandson Dustin Thomas and her beloved poodle “Lucy”.
Shirley is survived by; her children Bill Thomas Jr and spouse Celeste, Randy Thomas and spouse Cheryl, Donna Sales and spouse Doug, Cheryl Clemmons and spouse Pete. Her grandchildren, Jamie and spouse Chad Ruback, Kelly and spouse Jaret Rabon, Andrea and spouse Gary Cotie, Randy Thomas Jr., and partner Cameron Byrd, Douglas Sales Jr., David Keller and spouse Kindra, Matthew Barnard and spouse Miranda, Joe Sales, Scott Clemmons and spouse Kourtney, and Sam Clemmons. Her great-grand- children Quinn Rabon, Kennedy Rabon, Adison Cotie, Austin Cotie, Ryan Sales, Austen Sales, Ethan Sales, Madelyn Sales, Aiden Keller, Cheyenne Keller, Kaylee Clemmons and Kendall Clemmons. She also has two great- great-grand-children Sean and Amelia Sales many wonderful nieces and nephews.
