During his early years, Ricardo (Richard) Leija Jr. worked at a printing press working his way up to management for several years after that he worked in construction for a couple years. When Ricardo was married to his late wife Donna Sue Wilson, he became a realtor. In 2009, Ricardo (Richard) Leija Jr. became a Customer Care Representative with Alight and worked there until his passing. Richard’s colleagues remember him as someone who always had encouraging words or something funny to say to brighten the craziest of days. He was considered a valued team member at Alight.
Ricardo (Richard) Leija Jr. was always determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was exceedingly proud of his children: Ricardo Leija III, Amanda Leija-Dean, Kristen Wilson, and Maygain Leija and always tried his best to support them.
Ricardo (Richard) Leija Jr. was also a passionate guitarist and could often be found playing his guitar during his free time.
Anyone who knew Ricardo (Richard) Leija Jr., knew that he was the most loving father a family could ask for. As Ozzy Osbourne says in one of his songs, “Though I know we must be parted as sure as stars are in the sky, I’m gonna see when it comes to glory, and I’ll see you, I’ll see you on the other side.” ~See You On The Other Side, By Ozzy Osbourne
