With his family at his bedside, Michael J. Krall, Jr. of Spring, Texas, entered into rest on Thursday, July 16, 2015, at the age of 67. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 19th, at St. James Catholic Church (22800 Aldine-Westfield, Spring, TX). Interment will follow at Calvary Hill Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6 PM to 8 PM on Sunday, July 19th, at St. James Catholic Church with recitation of the Rosary and Chaplet of Divine Mercy at 7 PM.
A native of Pittston, Pennsylvania, Mike graduated from St. John High School. Soon after graduation, he served his country by enlisting in the United States Air Force, having been stationed in Thailand and Spain. While in the Air Force, he met his wife, Mary, in Louisiana. Eventually the couple had three children and settled in the Houston area. Mike worked for over three decades as a draftsman and computer programmer with Baker Hughes.
Mike was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, dedicated to providing for his family. He was always an avid sports fan, following the Astros and Steelers faithfully in all their ups and downs. His favorite games to watch were those of his children, and in their youth, he could be found watching almost every practice and game. As a grandfather, he became known as "Papa" and was dear to all his grandchildren. They will especially miss his silly sense of humor, his funny faces, and the "Papa dance." In recent years, he was immensely blessed by the brothers and sisters he made through his ACTS retreats.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Michael Sr., and his wife of 42 years, Mary.
After losing his wife, Mike was thrilled to marry Carolyn Moore Krall. Their devotion and love filled Mike with much joy. He was also proud to add new family who survive him - Joel and Amanda Lyn, and Matt and Amanda. Especially exciting to him were the addition of three new grandchildren - Alexis, Aubrie, and Paxton.
In addition to the family above, Mike is survived by his three children Michael and wife Katie, Mary Ellen and husband Ted, Patrick and wife Diane; and his eleven grandchildren Michael, Alison, Natalie, Audrey, Emily, Ellie, Teddy, Tommy, Grace, Patrick, and one soon to arrive. Also surviving are his mother, Louise, his sister, Mary Lou Kern and husband Richard, brother-in-law Walter DeGravelle, sister-in-law Alice Lowery and husband Herb, brother-in-law Cam DeGravelle and wife Judy, brother-in-law Fernand DeGravelle, and numerous nieces and nephews.
At the family’s request, memorials may be made in Mike's honor to the St. Anthony of Padua ACTS community. Donations should be made to St. Anthony of Padua (7801 Bay Branch Dr., The Woodlands, TX 77382), noting ACTS.
