Lucy was born June 25, 1935, in Pampa Texas to Baltazar (B.P.) and Maria Hernandez. She graduated from Pampa High School. It was in Pampa, Texas that she met the love of her life Robert Owens Cobb at "The Drag", in Pampa, Texas 1957. Lucy and Robert were married December 9, 1959. She was a loving wife and mother to her children throughout her lifetime. Lucy and her family were stationed in California, Wyoming, and Virginia while Robert served in the Navy. Upon retirement from the Navy in 1976, Lucy and her family moved back to Texas, the summer of 1978, where they settled in Spring, Texas.
Lucy worked in retail throughout her life at Peebles Department store in Virginia. Once they relocated to Texas, she worked at The Fair Department store, then Sam's Wholesale Club before retiring. Lucy was a wonderful, friendly door greeter, whom everyone loved, customers and co-workers alike. She won many awards throughout her career with Sam's Club as Employee of The Month for her Loss Prevention awareness.
Lucy was a devout lifelong catholic. She started her journey in Catholicism, as a child at Saint Vincent De Paul in Pampa, Texas. It was there also, that she learned how to be caring and giving, never expecting anything in return. St. Vincent De Paul helped the Hernandez family immensely as they were a railroad family. Although they had very little, they were always there to help others along the railroad sharing what little food they may have had. Lucy and Robert were sponsors over the years at St. James Catholic Church in Spring, Texas as well. Lucy professed her faith religiously and continued to pray to our Lord Jesus Christ during and up until her passing and she could no longer speak.
