Kinh Dang Tran was born on May 10, 1941 in the city of BINH DINH in VIETNAM. He was the son of Tran Dang Dung and Ta Thi To Xuan. During his early educational years, Kinh exemplified a determination to succeed. He grew into a very mature and independent individual and embraced every challenge he encountered in life.
Kinh was united in marriage to Tran Thi Ngoc Duyen. Three daughters, Dien Thuy, Quynh Tien, Thien Tien, and one son, Minh Duc, became a part of this union. He loved his family and worked hard to support and care for them. He instilled these same values in all of his children.
Kinh’s professional career began with a Doctorate Degree in Civil Engineering. Later, he changed vocation and was employed in the medical field for many years. In 1991, he retired as a Cardiopulmonary Therapist with St. Joseph’s Hospital in Houston, Texas. He cared deeply for the welfare of his patients. Years after he retired he would mention serious cases where he wished he could have done more to help them.
Kinh united with the Vietnamese Alliance Church of Houston and faithfully worshipped with his brothers and sisters in Christ until his health failed. He looked forward to Sunday mornings. He loved Jesus Christ and witnessed for Him to others. Many times he could be seen looking toward heaven in deep thought. When asked what he was thinking he declared, “Jesus Christ takes care of me!”
Kinh loved to travel and behold the beautiful places and things God created for him to see. His favorite vacations included Rome, Vietnam, France, China, Thailand, and Hawaii. He was very creative and took pride in his finished projects around the house.
Kinh truly fought a brave battle against Lymphoma. He never complained or acknowledged it existed within him. On March 3, 2022, God called His servant to his heavenly home.
Kinh leaves to cherish fond memories of his life, the mother of his children, Tran Thi Ngoc Duyen; three daughters, Dien Thuy (Thomas), Quynh Tien and Thien Tien; one son, Minh Duc; five grandchildren, Matthew, Lukas, Jakob, Charlize and Emmeline; a host of brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, along with two loving caregivers, Jerry Stafford and Bernalda “Ms. B” Hagan.
Kinh will be laid to rest at Calvary Hill Funeral Cemetery.
