Judy Lynn Harvey, age 59 of Cypress, Texas, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2017. She was born to Loraine Slater Williams and the late W.D. Gowan in Jackson, Mississippi on November 22, 1957, and then raised by her mother and the late Curtis Williams.
Family and friends were Judy’s love and joy. She grew up in a large family with eight brothers and sisters, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. ‘Ju Ju,’ as she was called, was the heart of our family – a confidante, a peacemaker and a free spirit who loved to have fun and help others. She was a great cook, who made the best carrot cake in the world, and recently added weaving as one of her newest crafty talents along with pottery and crochet.
Prior to retiring in 2013, Judy was a Food Services Manager for Cy-Fair ISD for many years. She loved to spoil her granddaughters, take cruises and try her luck with the penny slots – where she was always extremely lucky. Judy also enjoyed visiting with her family and celebrating the special moments in life with those closest to her.
Judy is survived by her long-term partner and love Roger Droddy, her son Paul Yarbrough, Jr. and his wife Melissa, her daughter Crystal Hay and husband James, and her precious granddaughters Hannah and Tabitha Hay. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Paul Jackson Yarbrough and Earl Wayne Harvey.
She will be greatly missed by her sisters, Peggy Carrell (Danny), Sarah Bryant (Don), Linda Williams (Eugene), Gale Roanoake (Claudia), and her brother Lee Williams. She joins in heaven her sister Martha Williams and her brothers Paul Williams and Eddie Thompson (Deena).
Services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, November 9, at Brookside Funeral Home, 3410 Cypress Creek Pkwy, Houston, TX 77068. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Calvary Hill Cemetery, 21723 Aldine Westfield Rd, Humble, TX 77338. Relatives and friends are also welcome to attend a reception from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home following the burial.
