Joan "Joanie" Francis Shoemaker Cervantes born in Houston, Texas on October 22, 1943 went home to be with our Lord on May 29th 2020 she was 76 years old. The youngest child of Raymond and Velma Mae Shoemaker both of which preceded her in rest along with her older siblings Billy Shoemaker and Elizabeth Shoemaker Barrett. What a glorious reunion for her and her family!
Joan resided and passed this life in Spring, Texas where she shared a home with her Son and Grandson.
Joan graduated from Sam Houston High School in July of 1963. Joan worked in theTransportation/Trucking industry most of her adult life. She was employed by P&H Trucking and RCS until she retired. She enjoyed Mexican food and "Texas" Barbeque. Above all she loved family gatherings which always included plenty of food. She loved to laugh and joked around a lot. One of her favorite phrases was "Catch me if you can" and it always made those around her laugh.
She is survived by her four children: Edna Mae Grounds and spouse Randy, Derald Overturff Jr and spouse Elaine, Rodney Overturff, and Harold Gore and spouse Melanie. She loved and enjoyed nine grandchildren: Tara Grounds Brooks, Amy Grounds, Rodney Overturff II, Gregory Overturff, Emily Overturff Bestor, Allyson Overturff Gibson, Matthew Overturff, Brendan Gore, and Dylan Overturff. She also cherished ten great-grandchildren.
The family would like to recognize Rodney Overturff and Dylan Overturff, your love and support meant the world to her! Thank you, we will be forever grateful!! We would also like to thank the compassionate staff of Harbour Hospice and Dignity Memorial for the care of her and support for her caregivers and family.
