A beautiful baby girl named Jennie Ruth Barnes was born August 23, 1955 to the parents of James Barnes and Jennie Jane Barnes in San Augustine, Tx. She was the baby daughter out of eleven siblings. She attended public school and graduated from San Augustine High School class of ’73. Shortly after she married the love of her life Jesse Calvin Garrett on June 10, 1973. It was only just the beginning of the multiple blessings that would occur that year. Jesse and Jennie embraced the birth of their first child a baby girl named Yolanda.
Jennie trusted in her husband and continued their journey to Houston, Tx in 1975. Over the 44 years the family grew in abundance with three more beautiful daughters, Jennifer, Lakeshia, and Jessica. She was a great mother, very firm in discipline, but very kind in giving. She made sure her daughters were well taken care of and had everything that was needed. She loved her grandchildren, she was very proud of their accomplishments, they brought her great joy.
Jennie loved to listen to music and dance. She had this contagious laugh and smile that you could never forget. She had multiple nicknames “Cutie Pie” and “Fannie” were the two she was called the most. She loved working with children. She was an avid volunteer and Substitute Teacher in the school system for Aldine ISD for many years until her health started to interfere with her ability to work.
Jennie is preceded in rest by James Barnes her father, Exie M. Barnes her sister, Jennie J. Barnes her mother, and Jesse J. Barnes her brother.
She leaves to cherish her memories; her loving husband, Jesse Garrett of Humble, Tx; her four daughters, Yolanda N. Garrett-Creggett (William) of Spring, TX, Jennifer D.
