I'm the grand daughter of him, I don't even remember him

I love you Papa and I miss you very much. I know it's selfish of me to wish you are here while you are basking in God's glory. I'm thankful for everything you taught me and for all the care packages you sent me while I was 'out of town.' You will always hold a special place in my heart. Until we meet again...

Dad, thank you for the  travel book you bought me right before you died.  I had the thought one day that there would be no more travel inserts pulled from your paper  - just lying on the corner of the table waiting for me to  take home.  You knew I liked that kind of thing and you always had my news paper article waiting for me. Hoping I'd show up at your house - on good days you had a pot of beans or "Jacks' Eat your Heart out Soup" - " ready to chow down.  You loved setting the table and having someone over to eat with you.  You were always so  attentive to everything.  I know you were lonely..

When I got the book posthumous - it was like you were there saying - "see I knew you would be looking for your travel articles but I won't be around anymore so please take this in rememberance.

Dad I will never forget you - you were a good man who worked hard and diligently for your family.

The grandkids thought you could do magic - Magic Grandpa - but the real magic came from the everyday life that was filled with special times and moments.
Not the big things - the small ethereal times when life doesn't get in the way - but moves out of the way.

When you met Mom at the car hop and she said to the other girls 'I saw him first".  That was magic in the making because that became 50 years of commitment and everlasting love between two young people.   When you had 5 children - that was magic as an expression of your love. 

When you went to your beloved land and hunted with your boys - that was magic - remembering you carrying the deer out of the woods on your back.  Strong, full of life, sharing your love of nature and generations of knowledge with your sons. 

When you walked each of your girls down the aisle - it  was magic.  You were by our sides - good or bad outcome.
We knew ...

When each grandchild was born and you held them and embraced their new little spirits into the world...
They filled your heart to overflowing.
Your were good to all of them.   

When you celebrated your 50 year anniversary with you "earth angel"  and my mom.  We had a big cake and played love songs.  You cried, she cried. We all cried.  We all knew - it was the last dance for you.  She died several months later.  But I still see the love in your eyes that day as you both pledged your love.  It was beautiful - it was magic!!. 

When the great grandchildren came along you were becoming even more in tuned and seemed to cherish them and longed to spend time with them.  To teach them and help them understand right from wrong.

When Kierstyn was about 3 she wanted her toenails painted .  She asked you to do it.  Even though your eyes were dimmed from age and your hands shook from your medications - you did it.  You propped her little foot up and with your weathered and long toiling hands went about the task of painting each little toe.  You didn't stop until all 10 toes were daintily painted little girl pink. 
It was magic.....


Thank you Dear Dad for all you did for your family.  I hope you had a happy life for the most part.  Forgive me for my shortcomings. 

 Give Grandpa, Grandma, Uncle Leroy, Uncle Billy Bob and my dearest mom a big hug for me.  Until  our souls are united in eternity - I will work to see the magic in my life - in honor of you.

When I heard the terrible news, I was reminded of the few times when Nicholle, Donna and I would go to his house and help pick pecans from the back yard. I asked Nicholle, "Who are we going to pick pecans for in exchange for cake, now?" He always made me feel like part of the family and I know he will be greatly missed by all those whose lives he has touched--including mine.

I love you and I miss you and I look forward to seeing you and Mema again soon!

May the Lord's hands of compassion and love and his guiding light from above,shine down upon you and give you strength during this time of sorrow. Words alone can't express the sadness that those close to you are feeling for the passing of your father. May you find comfort in knowing that you have friends to support you. We are only a phone call away. We love you, Linda,Frankie, Debra, Joyce, and Emelda.

I am sorry to hear about Uncle Jack. God Bless him and may he rest in peace. I never knew that Aunt Moline had passed away. They were both good people to know. I remember a lot of times at Uncle Jacks house. There were alot of fishing and hunting trips to remember as well. He gave to tips on fishing and taught me how to handle and respect a gun. The man could cook one heck of a brisket. He will be surely miss.  Matthew W. Pershall

The short time i knew you, you touched my heart.  i know that Daddy will miss you as will I.  I just wish that i got to know more about you.  hopefully Daddy will tell me lots of things about you.  I will miss you Pa Pa.

Your dad was always so nice to me and I know he was a good man. I'm glad I got to grow up down the street from all of you. My thoughts and prayers are with y'all.

 Dad you taught  me about being a good man with values and morals that are rare in this day and age. I know you started a project and you just didn't have enough time to get completed. I will try my best to finish them and to make sure things are taken care of they way you wanted them to be. Love you and will always think of all you did for us and we will always have an empty spot until it is time to join you and momma  again.
