Gerald was born and raised in Orlando Florida where he graduated from Jones High School in 1973. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from Florida A&M in 1977 and his Master’s degree from Texas Southern University in 1988. He was also a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity. Gerald served as an educator in Florida, as well as Texas and taught science and math.
Gerald was the beloved husband of Cathy Howard for 35 years. He was preceded in death by siblings, Sanford ‘Buddy’ and Ronald Howard. Gerald will forever be remembered by his sisters Joyce (Markus) Rowland and Brenda (Eric) Bachelor. He will also be remembered by his beloved children Gerald II and Kayla (Alan) Morrow, Sisters-in-Law Inez and Rita Howard along with numerous nieces, nephews, and countless other friends and family.
Gerald loved early morning fishing and cooking for his family. He enjoyed acquiring new hobbies like curating homemade wine and gardening. He also adored challenging folks to eating competitions, and treasured spending time with his family and friends.
Gerald touched the lives of so many people with his smile, generosity, and welcoming spirit. We the family, would like to express our gratitude to all of those who shared thoughts, prayers, visits and sentiments of love and kindness during this time.
