Upon his retirement, he chose to return to Texas and join his older sister Maria, in Austin where he resided for over 25 years. He later moved to Spring, Texas to join his younger sisters, where he lived until his death.

Tio loved listening, singing and dancing to all types of music. At many family events he would be eager to be the first on the dance floor and would still be dancing when many of our younger relatives would be sitting down trying to get their second wind. He enjoyed painting and drawing; just giving him a sketch pad and pencils would keep him happy for hours. At times he would take the back of a plain wooden board he would find and create a beautiful masterpiece. I remember the time he thought the privacy fence at their Austin home was a bit boring, so the next thing we saw was a Tio’s masterpiece. It took up the entire back fence with numerous drawings that resembled Native American headdresses. He loved to travel since he was young and continued until his health became poor. He was always ready with his passport in hand.
He made friends easily and was loved by all. Wherever he went they would not forget his visit. He was the “Life of the Party”… He loved to dress up no matter what occasion. He was well known by the fedora hat he wore since he was young and many times if we left the house without it we would have to go back and get it. He would tell you I always have to be “elegante”. That is why we often referred to him as “Uncle Elegant”. Many of our friends smile and remember him by that simple phase. Tio always had a smile on his face and we know he lived his life to the fullest. We know that he went straight to heaven and right now he is probably trying to teach people to dance and to sing to his favorite song, “ Cielito Lindo”. We all will miss him but we are so blessed to have been able to share in his many many adventures over the years…. We all love him and will forever cherish our time we had with him and look forward to one day join him in heaven.

Tambien, no se preocupen acerca de mantenerlo ocupado, lo que esta sucediendo al momento el va estar satisfecho. El es feliz entre la gente o estar solo pero no esperen que el sea una alma de moviemento liento.
