October 10, 1925 - July 8, 2024
An angel walked the Earth, and now flies in Heaven.
Evelyn was many things to many people. A mother who gave everything she had to her children. A grandmother who brought the family together especially in times of need. A role model to all.
Evelyn led a great and long life. She was born into a performer’s family. Her mother and father were vaudevillians on stage until the Great Depression. They then became circus performers for Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus. She was able to travel all over the United States!
Evelyn not only lived through The Great Depression, but through World War II, the Korean War, The Vietnam War, and all world turmoil since. She has witnessed so much history.
To say that Evelyn was a devoted mother is quite the understatement. She was a very diligent and determined woman who provided everything she could for her children, and with this devotion, was able to send them to Catholic school. She was very devoted to her faith, and passed that on to both her children and grandchildren.
Evelyn was not able to finish high school, but that did not stop this amazing woman. She obtained her GED, and then went on to become a registered nurse. One of her first positions was a flight nurse. She rode in helicopters around Texas to pick up and care for premature infants on their way to the hospital. She volunteered for this position, as the other nurses had all declined. Evelyn was a true woman of courage.
She adored traveling, reading, and a nice glass of white zinfandel. Her most memorable trips were Europe, Alaska, and New York City! Her most favorite past times were watching movies and being surrounded by family.
Along with her great legacy, Evelyn leaves behind her wonderful children. Two daughters, Deborah Gastorf, and Kathryn Lewis, and their husbands, Robert Gastorf, and Ron Lewis (deceased). She also leaves behind her two sons, David Woitaske and wife Jimmie Woitaske, and Paul Hethcock (who has gone before her) and wife Lisa Hethcock .
Her grandchildren: Theresa Green (Chris Green), Peter Muniz (Lorraine Muniz), Christopher Lewis, Jonathan Lewis, and Shannon Hohensee (Rick Hohensee).
She was also blessed with great grandchildren: Taylor Green, Bryce Green, Maycee Green, Talia Muniz, Tyler Hohensee, Ashley Russell (Patrick Russell), and great great granddaughter Blake Russell.
Evelyn will be sorely missed, but never forgotten. Through her long life and never ending support, she still lives in us all.
