Dorothy Marie Peloso

Dorothy Peloso was born at home on November 22, 1917, in Chicago, Illinois, to first generation British immigrants, Harry and Elsie Hargreaves. Dorothy spent the first 40 years of her life in Chicago attending school and subsequently marrying the “boy next door,” the late Fred Best, on 5-24-1941. They moved to California in 1958 to be near family, where Dorothy spent the next 48 years of her life. After Dorothy and Fred Best’s marriage ended, Dorothy married her second husband, Pasquale (“Pat”) Peloso on 10-24-1976. They were married for 29 years. After her husband, Pat Peloso, passed away in 2005, Dorothy moved to Spring, Texas, to live with a niece for the last 10 years of her life.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Pat Peloso, her parents, Harry and Elsie Hargreaves, her sister, Grace Hargreaves Olinger, her brothers, Harry Hargreaves Jr. and Warren (“Benny”) Hargreaves, and his son, also named Harry Hargreaves.

Although Dorothy never had children of her own, she will always be lovingly and gratefully remembered by her surviving family, which includes her youngest brother Ron Hargreaves and his wife, Isabel, of Irvine, California, three nephews including Gene Hargreaves of Simi Valley, California, John Hargreaves of Sacramento, California, and Cal Hargreaves of Tampa, Florida, 12 nieces including Donna Hargreaves Bushore of Oak Park, California, Dr. Marlene Hargreaves Freeman of Fairfield, California, Jennifer Hargreaves Knight of Placentia, California, Carole Hargreaves of Orange, California, Micky Hargreaves Wells of Springfield, Missouri, Kathy Hargreaves Crowe of Longwood, Florida, Joyce Olinger Suurmeyer of Spring, Texas, Ede Olinger Crosby of Tampa, Florida, Marilyn Olinger Koehler of Lake City, Florida, Phyllis Olinger Brant of Albany Oregon, Arlene Olinger Deyo of Eugene, Oregon, and Cheryl Olinger Jorenby of Brookings, South Dakota, and numerous great-nieces and nephews and even several great-great nieces and nephews.

Visitation is scheduled for Monday evening, 5/09/2016, from 5-8 PM, at the Calvary Hill Funeral Home located at 21723 Aldine Westfield Road, Humble, Texas 77373. Dorothy’s funeral service will be held the following afternoon, 5/10/16 at 2 P.M., at Founders Baptist Church, where Dorothy was a member
