Donald Ray Bratton

Nick grew up in the Fifth Ward and Galena Manor Park Communities. His early education began at Fidelity Manor Elementary and extended through Fidelity Manor High School. Nick received a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree from Huston-Tillotson College (University) in 1972 in Austin, Texas. He pledged and became a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity in August, 1971.

On December 22, 2012, Nick was united in Holy Matrimony to Marsha Woods in Houston, Texas.

Nick’s early working years were spent working as a Respiratory Therapist in Austin, Texas and Fairbanks, Alaska. He was later employed by Shell Oil Company in Deer Park, Texas where he worked for 42 years before retiring in April, 2017. Nick accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Northside Antioch Baptist Church in Houston, Texas.

Nick was blessed to live a full, happy and rewarding life. On Tuesday, April 23, 2019, God called Donald Ray Bratton to eternal rest. Preceding him in death is his brother, Delton Ray Bratton; a sister, Betty Lou Thompson; and his father Willie T. Bratton.

He is forever loved by his wife, Marsha; mother, Earnestine Bratton; daughters, Stephanie Washington; K’Orie Bratton-Morris (Latonya); Janikka Bratton; and Shelby Woods; grandchildren, Erika Bolton, Charlesha Allen, Marquis Washington, and Bryce Morris; great-granddaughter, Aubree Marshall. Sister, Linda Barras; nieces and nephews: Roderick Morrison, Shederick Morrison, Donyale Thompson, Zuriel Thompson, Terrance Bratton, Derric Briscoe and Sharita Barras; sister-in-law, Monica Woods; brother-in-law, Tillman Woods. He departs this life leaving behind a host of relatives and lifelong friends.
