David Allen Martin entered into rest on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at Methodist Hospital in The Woodlands. He was born in Great Lakes, Illinois to James Martin and Amanda (Gibson), and was the oldest of four children. David was preceded in rest by his father, mother, and his brother Steve.
Due to his father's work in the Air Force, David was educated in various schools until settling in Arkansas when he was around 13 years old. He graduated from Silvan High School and joined the Air Force, where he worked as an Operating Specialist. After the Air Force, he moved to Houston where he worked at numerous hospitals at the same time as an EMT. Later in life, he worked as a Medic for Brown & Root, and then moved on to become a Dental Technician. He graduated from the Operations Corporation in offshore oilfield diving. David then graduated from Elkins Institute, after which he attended 3 years of nursing school.
David loved to talk and would pull anyone who would listen into a engaging conversation. He also had a special appreciation for Halloween, which was his favorite holiday. David could often be found riding one of his many motorcycles, and he owned over 30 of them during his lifetime. He was a jack of all trades who delighted in being outside, and channeled that into fishing, sailing, boating, kayaking, hunting, working on old cars, archery, knives, flashlights, and good tools.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife Pat; his sister, Valinda Martin; his brother, Todd Martin; his seven brothers-in-law; his seven sisters-in law and many nieces and nephews.
David's family would like to invite his friends and loved ones to a reception held in the Event Room of Calvary Hill Funeral Home following his Celebration of Life service, to continue in fellowship and the sharing of his memory.
