Arthur Browning, beloved dad and grandpa, passed away leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and inspiration. Born in Butler, Missouri, and raised in Mississippi, Arthur’s life was a tapestry of adventure and spontaneity that touched the lives of many. Arthur is survived by the love of his life, Donna Browning, his daughters, Alicia Friday and Melissa Wedemeyer, their husbands Nick and Mark, granddaughters Reese, Quinn, Lily, Penny, and Bonnie, and the closest thing he had to a blood brother, Tom Harrison.
Arthur also leaves behind many friends and fellow travelers of the Program.
Arthur wore many hats throughout his life and was thought of as a man of diverse talents. He was known to be an outdoorsman and was often found taking his girls to fish, hunt, or finding new animals to bring home as unlikely pets. From his early days in sales to his noble work as an EMT and paramedic, with an ongoing spirit of entrepreneurship, Arthur demonstrated a commitment to hard work and service. For the past two decades, he thrived in offering remote IT support, working from the comfort of his home, where he combined professional expertise with a deep love for his family. In most recent years, Arthur picked up the guitar and spent time learning new songs that he would play excitedly for his granddaughters.
A pivotal moment in Arthur’s journey occurred on April 23, 2001, when he became a Friend of Bill’s. This marked the beginning of a transformative chapter in his life. Through this program, Arthur not only overcame his own struggles with addiction but became a guiding light for others navigating similar challenges. His spirituality, rooted in recognizing the grace of God as his Higher Power, shone brightly in his words and actions. He approached life with an open heart, a compassionate spirit, and a profound sense of gratitude.
Arthur viewed life as an adventure, not merely to be enjoyed but to be shared with the people he loved. His joy for living was infectious, and he found immense pleasure in creating lasting memories with those around him.
Arthur believed in the transformative power of love and hope, often reminding those he mentored and supported that brighter days were always ahead. His legacy is one of selflessness and perseverance, a testament to the difference one person can make in the lives of others.
