“Faye”, as she was affectionally called, attended the public schools of Bogalusa, LA, and graduated from Central High School (1968). She attended Southern University of Baton Rouge, Louisiana earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education (1972). After college, she went on to earn several certifications that included: The women’s Career Development program (1984-1986), the First hire Supervisory program (1986), and National Management Association (1977-1988). Faye’s professional career began in 1974 in Pomona, CA, as a Quality Assurance Coordinator at General Dynamics. She later retired in 2013 from working 16 years at USDA Rural Development as an Area Technician Coordinator.
In 2013, Faye retired and moved to Humble, TX to spend more time with her family and grandchildren. During her retirement years, she was an active member of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) for her grandson, she enjoyed cooking for her family, traveling, attending sporting events for her grandchildren, and spending time conversing with family, and friends.
She is survived by her son, Reginald Jamaal (Desiree) Brumfield, and daughter Kourtney Jenine (Phillip) Luke. Six grandchildren, three sisters: Sylvia Austin Spears and Glenda H. Glapion of New Orleans, LA, Linda G. Moore of Bogalusa, LA; one brother, Lindsey E. Austin, brothers-in-law Gregory J. Glapion, and Marcos Soares, and a host of nieces, cousins, and friends.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
