Siegfried Hans Steinke passed away on Friday, May 15, 2015. He was born to parents Wilhelm and Ella Steinke in Ribbeck near Berlin, Germany. He later immigrated to Canada, and then moved to Los Angeles in 1960 until 1987 when he settled in Modesto, CA. Siegfried was a cabinet maker by trade working mostly in construction for residential housing and later became involved with investments in laundry mats and apartment complexes. Siegfried belonged to the the Stockton Heimat Choir, Oakland Manner Choir, Herman Sons Modesto and Stockton Lodge. He was a member of the Frohsin Men’s Choir of Los Angeles for 23 years. Siegfried is survived by wife Effie Lena Steinke, former wife Margaret Anna Wobig, and children: Renate (Danny) Mircheff, Detlef Steinke, Ralph Steinke, Renee (Stephen) Smith, Walter (Jennifer) McCoy, Brian McCoy and 10 grandchildren. Siegfried will be dearly missed by all his family and friends. A Graveside Service will be held at Lakewood Memorial Park at 2:00 pm on Wednesday May 27, 2015 with a reception to follow in the Lakewood Funeral Home Banquet Room.
