During Rosa’s lifetime, she lived in places like Saginaw, Michigan, Hollister, Woodlake, and Hughson, California, where she attended Hughson High School and graduated from Denair High School in 1968.
Rosa was well known for her many talents. Not only was she a fashion designer and trendsetter, but a local renowned Mexican folk singer as well. Rosa performed with mariachi bands across the Central Valley, most notably at the California Ballroom as a teenager. When not serenading crowds, Rosa helped form the Grammy-nominated band Rudy Flores y Los Humildes and the mariachi band Los Gallos Del Oro. Rosa also successfully pioneered many business ventures, including her own Christian Bookstore: El Rincón del Cielo, and selling her famous tamales.
Rosa was a woman of God who was deeply devoted to her faith. In 1980, she gave her life to the Lord. Her life’s goal was to spread the Gospel to others. In doing so, she embodied the Lord’s second greatest commandment: to love one another. Rosa demonstrated the Lord’s commandment in the way she knew best: by being a mother to others as well as her own children. She cared for others spiritually and physically, always making sure they had what they needed. The power of her love earned her the nickname “Sister Love.”
Beyond her spiritual calling, Rosa worked for several years as a bookkeeper for her father’s agricultural business and later took on the role of a payroll clerk at Headstart. Rosa’s commitment to excellence and hard work was evident in all aspects of her life.
Family played an integral role in Rosa’s life. She cherished every moment spent with her children and especially her numerous grandchildren who all lovingly called her Gramma. In turn, Rosa referred to all fifteen of them as her gems. Together, they all shared countless beautiful memories that will be cherished forever.
Rosa leaves behind a legacy of love and unwavering faith that will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her. Her compassion, determined spirit, and devotion to God will be dearly missed. As her family mourns her passing, they find comfort in the fact that she is now reunited with her Heavenly Father whom she served so faithfully. Rosa’s beautiful gift of grace and love will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
