Robert Joe Boland
also known as "Bob"
April 7, 1923 - May 9, 2013
Robert Boland was born in Oklahoma on April 7, 1923 to Leham and Cecil Boland. After both of his Parents passed, most of his brothers and sisters gathered up and headed West through the WPA Program clearing forestry during the great depression to seek out better opportunities.
He joined the United States Army before turning 18 to fight for his country in WWII and went on to earn 5 Battle Stars including the African Campaign, Sicily Invasion, Italian Invasion, Normandy Invasion, and the Battle of the Bulge. He fought bravely for his country and pushed many limits to protect and defend the lives of the innocent and do what he knew was right.
After returning from the war he met his wife Elsie Grace Latourette and married her on July 9, 1955. He ran an electrical company called "Bob's Electric" while she managed the books and gave him 4 beautiful children, whom he adored: Richard, Michael, David, and Karen. He went on to teach all three of his sons as well as many of his nephews and grandson the Electrical Trade.
Robert... better known as "Bob" was a successful business man but more than anything he was a family man. There wasn't anything he would not have done or given for any of his family especially his 4 Children, 7 Grandchildren, and 5 Great-Grandchildren.
He survived many close calls in WWII, a dangerous trade, and 3 heart procedures to finally go on to join his wife at 90 years old. His toughest tragedies in life were losing his son Michael Boland in 2006, his son-in-law Gregory Luepke in 2007 and Beloved Wife Elsie in 2011.
He is survived today by his children Richard Boland, David Boland, and Karen Luepke, daughter-in-law Carolyn "Becky" Boland, Grandchildren Sylvia Looper, Jennifer Boland-Hernandez, Joey Boland, Cassandra Boland, Charlie Boland, Andrew Boland, and Thomas Boland and Great-Grandchildren Ashley Looper, D.J. Looper, Grace Raper, Trinity Boland, and Cherish Hernandez. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces, and friends that will love and remember him forever with his family.
Robert will be laid to rest in an Honored Military Fashion at Lakewood Memorial Park & Funeral Home today at 11:00 am.
