Richard Joseph Machado

Rick was born in Merced on December 30, 1968 to Joao DeRocha Machado and Idalina Borges. He attended elementary school in Dos Palos and graduated from Gustine High School in 1987. Rick is survived by his wife Kelly, two sons Richard and Jonathan, sister Mary Rocha (Agnelo), brother John Machado (Nancy), sister Filomena Machado (Jerry), niece Renee Rocha and nephews Christopher Montez, John Machado, Jr. and Danny Rocha.

Rick was an award-winning cheesemaker for over 30 years working for several factories including making mozzarella for Belfiore Cheese Company in Berkeley and invented a new cheddar/fontina style of cheese called San Joaquin Gold for Fiscalini Cheese Company in Modesto.

Although Rick was extremely proud of his cheesemaking accomplishments, he was most proud of his family and his two Labradors Rooster and Dolly and his cat Kitty Bo Giggams (NOT my cat!)

When he wasn't watching his 49ers or San Francisco Giants play he was attending various Rock concerts and going fishing. Although most of the time he only caught more bait!

You are deeply missed and your family loves you dearly always and forever. ❤️

A funeral service for Rick will be held Monday, November 7, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Lakewood Funeral Home, 900 Santa Fe Ave, Hughson, CA 95326. Following the funeral service will be a graveside service from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at Lakewood Memorial Park, 900 Santa Fe Ave, Hughson, CA 95326.
