Montford Grant, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2024, at age 97. Born in Cleveland, Ohio to parents Homer and Emily Grant, Montford had a great love for his family. He enjoyed summer vacationing traveling across the country, from Ohio to California; and in his earlier years to Honey Harbor in Canada. Once he changed his residence to California, the cross-country trips continued, to Pennsylvania, Niagara Falls, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Florida. He even vacationed to Alaska three times. Every summer was an adventure. He enjoyed many different sports, but Nascar was his favorite, and he always felt fortunate to having been able to attend a live race at Sonoma.
Montford was a man of many vocational talents. During his life he experienced life as a baker making pies from scratch. He later became a truck driver; hauling fuel was a specialty. He even built the family home from scratch in Ohio. When he retired from trucking he worked in delivery of furniture, clearing almond trees, yard maintenance and roofing. He continued to perform his own residential repair work throughout his life as long as he was able.
Above all, family came first. He believed in providing for his family and to have great family time together. He had a special bond with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was always ready for a hug…and to provide chocolate to the little ones!
He is preceded in death by his wife, Anne, and sons Randy Grant and Alan Grant.
