Mary Elaine Fiez was born on April 20, 1955 in Mojave Desert California and died July 22, 2023 holding the hand of her lifelong love and husband of 50 years, Charles Jewell Fiez in their home located in Modesto California. She is preceded in death by her parents Evelyn and Jay Jamison, brother Mac Jamison and granddaughter Beatrice (Birdie). She is survived by her 3 daughters Wendy Johnston (husband Kit), Amanda Lowas (husband Chuck) and Melissa Stinemates (husband Michael). She is also survived by 9 grandchildren Michelle (husband Michael), Ellie (husband Jordan), Savannah, Jessica, Charlie, Penny and Addie and 4 great grandchildren Emma, Daisy, Olivia and Amelia. She is expecting a new great grandson in August. She was known as Momo by family and friends.
Momo was beloved by many and a constant inspiration to those around her. During her working life, she worked for the Oakdale Poultry Plant, Oakdale Convalescent Home, Fiez Auto Wreckers, March of Dimes, and she retired from Stanislaus County after 12 years as an Eligibility Worker. She was a lifelong member of the Modesto Free Will Baptist Church - serving as the Church Treasurer and as one of the founders of the church's Homeless Ministry. She also diligently supported the American Cancer Society raising thousands of dollars by selling jam at the Relay for Life.
After originally being given an estimation of 6 months to live, Momo fought 14 years against cancer. She was always a wonder caring for so many while dealing with her own struggles. She was known to say often "Cancer may someday take my life, but I have already beat cancer." When asked how she did it, she would always credit her Jesus. She was telling people about Jesus even in the last weeks of her life.
There will be Funeral Services at Lakewood Funeral Home in the Riverside Chapel, on Monday, July 31,2023 at 11:00 am to 12:00 pm following a Graveside Service at Lakewood Memorial Park in the Serenity Mausoleum. (900 Santa Fe Ave, Hughson, California, 95326)
