Jovita was known to her family and friends as a prayer warrior with an unwavering faith in God, a gentle, humble, faithful and loyal woman. She was the Matriarch in her family, in which she led by example and established a safe and loving environment for many along her journey in life.
Jovita was born and raised on the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. In 1957, Jovita sought after a better life for her 3 daughters as jobs were hard to come by on the island. Jovita left the island and moved to New York where she worked hard as a sewer both in the factory and piece work. Soon thereafter, in 1959 she moved her girls to New Jersey to be with family and had 2 more beautiful daughters.
In 1968, she met her soon to be Husband, Hector Caliz. Together they had 3 more beautiful children, creating family of 8.
In 1979, Hector and Jovita decided to move their family to California in which they would spend the next 43 years together.
Jovita is proceeded by her son Hector Caliz jr, daughter’s Debby Casiano & Betsy Maldonado, brother's Reynoldo Morales & Abigail Castellar, sister Ne'ca Castellar and parents Tati & Tono Morales.
She is survived by her husband Hector Caliz, Daughter’s Judy Garcia, Ana Castellar, Evelyn Chase, Lisette Maunakea, Son Abel Caliz, 19 Grandchildren, 43 Great Grandchildren including 1 unborn, 15 Great Great Grandchildren, Sister’s Elvira Morales & Lydia Morales, Brother’s Reymedio Morales & Raul Morales.
