John Patrick Gowin

John Gowin, age 62, of Salida, California passed away on January 29, 2024. He grew up in Hayward, CA and served the city of Hayward for 35 years as a Fireman. John was an adventurer, Eagle Scout, avid hiker, great cook, had numerous hobbies, an artist, was a collector of family history, loved the outdoors and traveled many of the National Parks with his family. One of the first things he and his wife, Tammy did after retiring in 2019 was to take his grandchildren on an extended camping trip to visit the Western United States, A trip he had made as a child with his family. He dated the love of his life, Tammy Gowin, who grew up in the same neighborhood. They built a life together over 43 yrs. Their love for, and dedication to their family is reflected in their five daughters: Jenny, Amanda, Brittany, Rebecca and Caley. Along with his family, he will be greatly missed by his four granddaughters and three grandsons. He leaves behind two brothers and two sisters, and many extended Gowin and Lopes family members. He lives on in his beautiful children, grandchildren and the ways he has contributed his talents to so many.

A funeral service for John will be held Thursday, February 15, 2024 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at st. Joseph Catholic church, 1813 oakdale rd, modesto, CA 95355.
