James was born in Ohio, 1943 to Wilma and Rodney. He moved to California in 1963. In 1973 he married his sweetheart and adopted his son Jeffery. The family moved to Fairfield for 25 years. James is preceded in death by his parents, his Wife Georgette Johnston, Daughter Jennifer, brothers Larry and Roger, and Sister-in-law Jeanette Stearns. James is Survived by his son Jeffrey Johnston and his partner Shannon, and their children. His sister Janet of Ohio, Brother-in-law David Stearns of Empire, and many Nieces and Nephews. James volunteered his time to drive many people to appointments with catholic charities and enjoyed his church group. James never missed an event or birthday, he loved to celebrate. He loved to collect cookie jars, watch jeopardy, eat Mexican food, and serve the Lord.
A graveside service for James will be held Thursday, August 25, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Lakewood Memorial Park - Evergreen Garden, 900 Santa Fe Ave, Hughson, CA 95326.
